Why are not modern leisure facilities, built in the shadow?
My four year old loves going to the park. But it's summer, and I've found that most playgrounds have no shadow. Here we are in a beautiful park with large, beautiful shade trees everywhere – and in an area without plane trees outside the scope of any shade whatever, you feel a bit of plastic and metal playground equipment on a bed of wood chips. Even the parent banks have shaded most of the time. They are hard metal, uncomfortable, and burning hot after ten in the morning. I know it must be good reason for this … probably a silly question of liability. But I can not imagine what it would be. How can I increase the responsibility of the park to build the playground in the range of shade trees? Any ideas?
Money. It's cheaper and faster to clean the trees and drop on the play equipment. My father been in the construction business for 45 years. Once I asked about the residential subdivisions shall be totally cleared of any tree before construction begins, why would not leave some large old trees and build around them? I do not understand leaving all but a few. He said it was much longer (on the clock) for designers / architects and engineers to achieve a safe and enjoyable place and beauty plan long for the crew to put something together that was built around an existing structure.
