Airplane flying in path of Black Rainbow, what the heck was it?

Today, I was fishing just off shore in Maryland. I looked up, without sunglasses, and then again with polarized sunglasses and noticed both times a Black Rainbow looking thing. It was a thick black line across the sky. As I followed this line, i noticed that there was a Plane flying in the exact path of this black rainbow. I thought it was smokey exhaust from another plane, but nope..no other plane is sight. This plane was coming across the Atlantic Ocean East to West, and was WAY up there. It looked like it was huge, mabye a 747, but Its own exhaust (White) showed 4 engines, could of been a B-52. As the plane moved along the black line, it seemed to erase the black line behind it. However, WHAT WAS THIS BLACK RAINBOW THAT THE PLANE FOLLOWED?

It’s a contrail shadow. I’ve seen them before. Logically it doesn’t look right but the shadow you saw just happen to be directly between you and the plane. Like if you were to walk with the sun at your back, it’ll look like you’re making your own shadow disappear.
